Sustainable Cleaner

Research underscores the harm caused by chemical pollution, notably from everyday cleaning products. These substances not only contaminate water and harm the atmosphere but also degrade the air quality.

Detergents and cleaners are major contributors to marine pollution. They enter water bodies mainly through sewage discharge and surface water spills.

Their production, often from petroleum synthesis, and the disposal of non-recyclable packaging exacerbate environmental impact, endangering marine ecosystems and ocean health.

To address this, Friend of the Sea developed the Sustainable Cleaning Standard. It guides companies in promoting sustainable practices, minimising environmental harm from cleaning products and services.

The Standard

Friend of the Sea criteria for Sustainable cleaning require:

  • Management System;
  • Production;
  • Chemical Composition;
  • Environmental Impact;
  • Packaging;
  • Energy Management;
  • Social Accountability.

Liciane Kenik– General Manager: “We realised that life on a boat requires more attention to ecology. We are in direct contact with the sea, and everything we use on our boats often ends up directly in the sea, which is why we want to propose an environmentally friendly line. We are yachtsmen ourselves, and we have experienced this aspect and this need first-hand.”
